What Should I Wear on a Scenic River Float?

Weather in Montana—especially in Paradise Valley—can change quickly. It’s not uncommon to experience sunshine, wind, and cooler temperatures all in the same day.

For your Yellowstone River scenic float, we recommend dressing in comfortable layers so you can easily adjust throughout the trip.

Recommended clothing:

  • Water shoes or sandals that can get wet

  • Fleece or light jacket for cooler mornings

  • Comfortable outdoor clothing

  • Hat and sunglasses for sun protection

Our scenic float trips take place on relatively calm sections of the Yellowstone River, so the only thing that typically gets wet are your shoes when entering or exiting the raft.

We provide life jackets for every guest, but you are welcome to bring your own—especially for young children who may prefer a personal flotation device they are familiar with.

What Should I Expect on My Tour?

Our scenic river tour is a relaxing 2–3 hour guided float down the Yellowstone River, offering guests the opportunity to experience Montana’s breathtaking landscapes from the water.

Because all trips take place outdoors, exact trip length may vary slightly depending on river flow and weather conditions.

Transportation to and from the river is included, making your experience simple and stress-free.

During your float through Paradise Valley, you’ll enjoy:

  • Stunning mountain views

  • Wide open Montana landscapes

  • Calm stretches of the Yellowstone River

  • Opportunities to see wildlife such as bald eagles, osprey, deer, and elk

This peaceful float is one of the best outdoor activities near Yellowstone National Park, perfect for families, couples, and visitors looking for a relaxing Montana adventure.

  • Hat and sunglasses

  • Sunscreen

  • Shoes you don’t mind getting wet
